I am going to post these pictures sent to me by a member. Since I have the pictures, I want to point out a couple of things about the 4x4 swap that is different than the 2wd swap. It appears that the engine mount/axle mount assembly (isolators) on this 4.7 4WD Durango are the same as the 5.9. Also, the front half of the frame is the same as well. Not sure what the engine mounts look like. Koukimonster, can you send me pics of the engine mounts? In this picture, you can see the axle stabilizer that goes from transmission to front axle. The front axle has to be stabilized another way, since the replacement transmission wont have a place to attach this. So I welded a piece of 3/8 flat plate to 1 1/4 DOM tubing, bolted the plate to the axle where the previous stabilizer was, and welded it to the frame where the arrow is pointing. So, far, it is working well. I had to do this after the engine was in. For reference, this is what the 5.9 mounts look like on the 2000 4x4 Durango. Passenger side. The driver's side

It's actually a quad cab dakota, the mounts actually look the same as your 5.9. I'll try and take a picture of them tomorrow since I have it all at my inlaws. I was actually going to ask about the axle glad you already addressed it. Also were you saying it may be easier to fit if I go with a camaro or another 2wd pan?

Oh, OK. Quad cab is going to be cool.
What I meant was that 2wd trucks have more room between the firewall and front crossmember than the 4wd, and they have different motor mounts. But what you have is exactly what you need.
The pan that fits the best is a truck pan, part number 12640746. They came on almost every truck and van from 2007-2014, so the pan you have should be fine. But I would cross-check that just to make sure. If not, they are only about $150, and readily available.

Scott could you send me another invoice for the adapter plates. I'll need the exact same measurements that you used for the ZL1 Durango. My email is scottscompany08@yahoo.com

Just curious if anyone has the part number to the 5.9 4x4 engine mounts? I seen the 2wd ones but can't find a part number for 4x4s.

Thanks again I was going nuts trying to find them but all I can find is the aluminum isolators/mounts. I did try looking under brackets but had no luck. I'll head to a junkyard my next day off. Compiling a list of parts I need. Just curious hut has anyone found a set of ls type headers that fit that are made for a specific vehicle?

Those don't look like they will work at all. If you look at the shortys I use, they come down about 8 inches then sweep straight back. This is just about an inch above the frame on each side. The long tube headers come down at a 45 degree angle for a foot or more. What you need is a set of long tubes that sweep back, then down near the engine/trans intersection. At that point, there is plenty of room.

Was looking for any advice on actually setting the engine in the engine bay...has everyone been removing the intake manifold and trans tilting it back to get it in place? I'm hitting on the firewall and the oil pan on the front diff can't quite get it in place

FOr the 4x4 I dropped the long block in by itself, almost straight down. I had to jack the axle up on the pinion to rotate the mounting points forward a couple of inches. Then when it was all in, I went back and welded the axle support from the top of the axle to the frame. Scott did his 4x4, but didn't mention any trouble. Maybe he can chime in.

Since photo-suck-it has made it difficult to do third party pictures, my build for my durango R/T can be followed at Wicked R/T on Facebook. I will slowly try to update my build on here so others can get the info.
As for dropping the motor in, I first tried it with a 5.3 bare block and a 4L80E attached. It was a pain in the ass to get the motor to sit on the mounts properly, even with jacking the front axle on the pinion to rotate the mounts forward. Mind you, I was by myself, but If you use a large trans like a 4L80E or 6L80 then there’s not a lot of wiggle room near the fire wall and trans tunnel.
Later this week or the beginning of next week I will be putting my motor in for good. Im debating on one more attempt with the trans attached, or doing them separate because the top bellhousing bolts are damn near impossible to get to. I will keep you guys updated on what I end up doing.
Also, on the Wicked R/T Facebook page you can see how I modified the factory cross member, and stock 4wd trans mount, to mate with a GM trans mount and it fit beautifully.

Also one other note, a truck Intake will not fit. It will hit the firewall all day. You have to switch to a car intake. I know it’s a pain in the ass. A NNBS or TBSS Intake might fair better but the old LM7/LQ4/LQ9 Intake won’t fit. The back of it sticks out about an inch and a half into the firewall and screws everything up. I know this from putting a completely assembled 5.3 into my durango.

I had to put the 6l80 in after the engine was in. I admit, the fit for the engine between the front axle and the firewall is snug. But that's all the room there is to work with. I recommend an engine leveler on the engine hoist to get the angle just right.
Yeah, about photosuckit. I used to pull a pic into my library and post it in my thread in a few seconds. Really a downer.
