I updated the serpentine drive on the LSDAK truck, and had access to the custom oil cooler I built for the first time. I fit this to the radiator after the truck was assembled, but thought the idea might be helpful for others with the same issue. I initially started with a cheap summit oil cooler that was located in front of the radiator, but it was a POS. Here is what I came up with. To make the oil cooler more efficient, something has to disrupt the column of oil in the tubing. I don't have pictures, but I added long springs that I purchased online that are about 3/8 inch in diameter, inside the straight sections of tubing. This causes the oil to tumble, and shed more heat into the copper pipe. I have never had any overheating issues on this truck, despite using the stock dakota radiator with the internal transmission cooler serving the 6L90 transmission.
