How do I go about deleting the Magnum engine harness since it's tied into truck harness. Am I just picking out the engine harness out of the truck harness?

What I did intially was exactly that. 2000 (?) and below, there are two harnesses, the engine compartment harness and the body and lighting harness. I don't know about 2001+, it changed to a different type of ECM communication.
Anyway, on my 1999, I removed the engine harness completely, pulled and depineed all of the wires that had anything to do with engine function (MAP, IAT, TPS, injectors, etc.), but left the gauge wiring for the oil pressure and engine temp. I cleaned it up and tucked it away, and left the ECM in it's original location. I had to jump a couple of power wires in the fuse box, but it's been years so I don't remember which ones. I spent several housrs with the schematics to figure it all out.
When I was done, I had functioning speedo, oil and coolant temp cauges, and everything else (power door locks, windows, lighting, etc) worked fine. Including the alarm. I did have a lot of lights on the gauge cluster, so I opened it up and pulled the bulbs on all of them. Couldn't get the tach to work, even after talking to my electronic-savvy friends.
Hope that helps.
But, if you want to run aftermarket gauges like I do now, just pull the engine harness and ECM. It SHOULD work fine.
