Good morning everyone.
As many of you may know by now, Photobucket has been trying to extort money from those of us who use their services to store and share pictures. This website was built using Photobucket 3rd party hosting for all of the pictures. From day one, I paid a membership to Photobucket to have more storage capacity, and no ads on my photos.
Now, photobucket has turned off the 3rd party hosting, which is annihilating forum threads across the internet. This is the way we exchange our ideas, get motivated to do more, and receive feedback on our work. Within a few weeks, this site will be without pictures. All of the work from the past 5 years on this site will be gone.
Recently, Photobucket deleted the "download album" button, to prevent people from downloading their stored photos. I have approximately 3,600 photos stored and organized in albums, and hosted on a variety of forums. I had become so complacent, my phone and camera automatically uploaded everything to Photobucket as soon as they were connected to Wifi. I was forced to start pulling pictures off one-at-a-freaking-time!.
Fortunately, I stubled across an app that restored the "download album" button, so I was able to pull everything to zip files fairly quickly.
Even if I agreed to pay the $399 per year fee to continue to use photobucket, I think the money would go in the trash bucket. Their site runs slower every day. I think they will be out of business soon.
So, I am asking everyone to check in. My site seems to have a fair amount of traffic, but some of what I see could be bots that troll my site and post the info in a search engine somewhere. If you are a real person, please check in and give me some feedback. This site costs about $136? per year to operate, and takes some time. If I see enough traffic, I would start trying to rebuild some of my build threads and how-to threads using a different 3rd party host.
Thank you so much for you help, everyone. I have thoroughly enjoyed the work I have done on here, and I would be happy to continue if there is enough interest.
(Sorry, no pics to post on this thread today).
