Hey what's up guys I am new to the Dodge community so forgive me if I have questions. I have always been a GM guy so this is a big change for me, and I just bought two Dodges. One is a brand new Dodge Charger RT and the other is a 97 Dodge Dakota club cab 3.9 V6 that I bought from my dad for my 13 yr old son. I love the Charger, it is the nicest thing I have ever had, the Dakota has been taken care of pretty good but has the junky 3.9 and 150,000 miles on it. I just changed the waterpump and powersteering pump this weekend. My plan is if it stops running I want to do a Hemi swap on it to be true to the brand and Hemi's are a lot cheaper than LS's anyway. I noticed that you guys recommend upgrading the fuel line size and fuel pump but the 2003 Hemi Ram uses the same style regulated fuel pump as the Dakota with the regulator on type and the Ram regulator is supposed to be the same part # as the Dakota, Essentially if I upgrade fuel pump assembly I want to do a drop on like a Hemi Ram assembly. Something I noticed is the Durango Hemi seems to be very similar setup as the Dakota engines so I would probably go that route.

Um. OK.
As to the fuel system, I don't know much about Hemi anything. But 5/16 fuel line isn't going to support much of anything over stock. The Hemi uses a 3/8 quick connect, so I would plan on doing this. The Walbro 255 conversion seen in our video is probably the most cost-effective way. The corvette fuel-filter regulator is also correct, with a psi of 58, just as it is with the LS.
As far as fitment, the one thing I would consider early, and will do when I do a Hemi, is the addition of hydro-boost to replace the giant diaphragm brake booster that is in the way. The LS doesn't have a clearance issue, but the hydro-boost is the only way I would go in these trucks from now on.

Well now that I found true drop in fuel pump assembly I can focus on the motor mounts. The pump assembly that will drop in the tank is a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 cummins assembly, it has the 5/16" return and the 3/8" pressure but the pump that is in it is like 30 PSI so you will have to put a Walbro or Aeromotive in it. I will attempt to make adapter plates for the motor mounts so no cutting has to be done on the frame. As far as the oil pan I'm thinking of using an LX Hemi because it has a front sump that should clear the crossmember.

Well I spent some more time researching and discovered that Hotwireauto does the wiring harness for the Dakota Hemi, Cris said that you have to use a 2003-2008 Hemi because of the fact that you have use a 2005 Hemi ECU so it will work with a 2001-2003 Dakota gauge cluster. So if you have a pre 2001 Dakota just swap to the 2001-2003 cluster and just send him your Dakota harness and he will modify it for the Hemi and reprogram the 2005 Hemi ECU so that it has the Dakota Vin#, it is a true plug and play. Cris also told me to use a later returnless Fuel pump assembly and, I have decided to use a Ram 1500 assembly as it has the correct pressure. The main thing is you have to grind the flange down so the Mason jar lid will hold it in, that's what he did with the Jeep Rubicon swap on his website, he aslo said the 545rfe is the trans to use for fitment issues. The truck, jeep and Durango accessories is better choice, as they are similar to the Dakota accessories.
