I'm starting my Dakota build, single cab 2wd 3.9, I bought a few months ago. I knew I wanted to do something with the engine I figured like most I would do a 5.9 swap seemed fairly easy not much wiring to it a lot of bolt on parts. Eventually that went down the drain and decided to do an LS swap. First plan was to build a 5.3 2wd 4L60E. Simple clean and good fast little truck.

Got the 5.3 all cleaned up inside and out. Put it back together new gaskets and painted to look nice. Sent the transmission out to get rebuilt and converted to 4wd. Also bought a $400 donor single cab 4wd v8. Will be using the frame off this one and parting out the rest.

Anyone know how to post pictures on this forum? I upload the photos from my computer to a free image hosting site like Tinypic.. or something similar to it. Then you get the option to grab the BB code for either a website, email or message board/forum. Copy that BB code, then when you go to attach it to a forum post, you paste it in between the the that show up. You may end up with duplicate after you paste you link in, so you'll have to delete one of the pairs. You'll know if you were successful cause the image will show up right away in the preview, otherwise it'll say "image will be available shortly" ....or something like that. Took me a minute to figure it out. Hope this helps

Glad you figured out how to post pictures. I use photobucket, but there are many others also. That is a very patriotic truck. Should be fun. So you are using the body from the 2wd, and a frame from a 4wd to make an AWD? Talk about a mash-up. I am looking forward to this build. You plates will be in the mail monday.

$400 donor I found on craigslist. V8 4x4 no ecu and no title. Wasn't worried since I only wanted the frame.

Power washer and A LOT of scrubbing with a wire brush can make it look much better. And also a trick my boss told me was using cheap spray oven cleaner will help loosen up all that nasty residue and it works wonders!

Yes they look exactly like that. Other tHan the fact that they still have all that excess that mounts down to the transmission but other than that yes.

Ok. Not sure what you mean by "all that excess that mounts down to the transmission". Can you get a picture of that? I haven't seen every variation of dakota/durango driveline. I don't want to mail you some plates that won't work. I should be able to work around what you have and change the dimensions.
