Update:
I am back on the truck project. I sold my 98 5.9 5 speed: ( so I am now truckless and trying to get this done ASAP. I got the wiring harness back from Jared at current performance. He said its one of the hardest things he's ever done. Knowing that now I would have just ditched the factory dodge PCM and just did aftermarket gauges. I may end up doing that anyway, although I'd like the airbags to work at the minimum. Also this will likely render the 01-04 ac controls inop. Still considering a real time feed to an I pad or similar for gauges. Due to lack pf time I have someone installing and fabricating the turbo exhaust system. He is also test fitting the engine (next tues). After a test fit we will disassemble and reassemble the engine with new parts, zo6 cam, arp studs and rod bolts, and file the ring gap. That's it. I'm still working on figuring out the fuel system. Thinking a 340lph aero motive in tank, braided -6 an lines aero motive adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Maybe stock plastic lines if I can get the correct end fittings.

Hey Kyle.
Glad to see you back on the project. Jared told Ryan (texasranger96) that it was pretty difficult wiring his also.
The nylon lines and parts are readily available on amazon or at oreilly auto parts. They are Dorman. I have a catalog somewhere of all of the available fittings. I'll post it.
Can't wait to see new pics.

-6 lines for feed and return. I don't want to run the risk of plastic lines bursting or rubbing. I intend on being hard on the truck so if rather have the piece of mind. I think that's about it for the fuel system unless I'm forgetting something.

That is all good stuff. No troubles with that pump except it circulates so much fuel during normal driving. Are you still planning a daily driver, or more of a strip truck?

I pulled the fuel tank today and learned a few things. Quad cab Dakotas have a unique 24 gal fuel tank and fuel pump.

Time to be creative. Do they drop in the top with a retainer ring?

same retainer ring and basket set up, but the basket is smaller and made of aluminum. it has three tiny slots feeding it fuel from the bottom. I know my pump will definitely suck this small housing dry. I have a couple of ideas. number one. cut a window in the aluminum housing and let the snap on filter bag of my new pump stick through the window into the open fuel tank. We are making a machined aluminum plug for the regulator hole and drilling a -6 return line to it. this is centered in my style fuel pump so the return fuel would dump on top of the pump and into the basket.
My other option is to drill some 1/2 inch holes in the basket on the aft side, or open the bottom holes and try to keep the new pump and filter inside the housing.
option 3 is to utilize a plastic pump assy from pretty much every other Dakota tank, and see if I can modify that easier to fit. my tank is only 8 inches deep where the pump goes.

Unfortunately the 1999 dakota fuel system collapsed is longer than that. You could poke holes in yours, and fill it with the foam to keep the pump surrounded with fuel.

The aftermarket has become much easier to find what you want. I like that fuel sump. When I add turbos, I may use this for a secondary pump mounted to the rail, and retain my walbro 255 as the main fuel system.
